Plaid is a third-party company that securely transfers sensitive financial information between your banks and other financial service providers such as credit card companies, Venmo, etc. Plaid uses safe and secure technology to allow you to link accounts by logging into your bank through Plaid's platform, which keeps your login information encrypted and private.
However, Plaid is not a perfect solution to linking accounts, and you may experience issues at times with linking accounts through Plaid. Below are some common issues and solutions:
Why do I always have to relink my plaid external account?
There can be multiple reasons why the account you linked through Plaid requires a relink. The main reason this happens is because your other financial institution unlinked your account due to security purposes. Here are other common reasons for your account unlinking:
- You recently changed your email or password with your other financial institution
- You successfully linked your account and Plaid unlinked it due to an unknown error
If you experience this issue, we suggest that you unlink your account completely from within the Qube app and then manually link your account through microdeposits.
Why does my external account keep failing when linking through Plaid?
There are multiple reasons why linking your external account may have failed. The most common reason is due to a name mismatch when linking your plaid account with Qube. For security reasons, both names on the account have to match exactly, including the middle initial if provided. Most financial institutions don’t send over joint owner information, so if you're the secondary user on either account, the names may return as a "mismatch." Other common reasons for account linking failures are:
- Plaid was not responsive during the linking process
- Your other financial institution was not responsive during the linking process
- Incorrect login credentials
If you are experiencing this issue, we highly recommend manually linking your account through microdeposits.
