Bill Qubes are specific qubes for all your bills. They are different from Spend Qubes in that once you successfully setup a bill qube, you do not have to open your qube ahead of time in order for the transaction to process and the bill to be paid!
We have two types of Bill Qubes; Merchant-Locked Bills Qubes, and Virtual Bill Qubes.
Please note: If you created your Qube account after March 16, 2022, you will not see or have the option to create Merchant-Locked Bill Qubes. As of April 11, 2022, creating NEW Merchant-Locked Bill Qubes has been disabled for all users. Existing Merchant-Locked Qubes will continue to work until further notice.
Merchant-Locked Bill Qubes use the Merchant ID from the vendor/merchant you're paying to "lock" your qube to that merchant. All transactions from that merchant ID will then be approved without opening the qube. Unfortunately, sometimes merchants change their backend name or ID without notice, and this can cause some transactions to be declined. Because of this, we have developed Virtual Bill Qubes as a solution.
With a virtual bill qube, a unique virtual debit card number and unique account number will be generated specifically for each qube. Then, when paying your bill for a merchant, you'll use the unique card or account number associated with the qube you've made for that bill.
For example, say you set up a "Utilities" bill qube. You'll have a unique debit card and unique account number generated solely for your Utilities bill qube. You can then have your electricity bill, your water bill, garbage/recycling services, and your internet all paid from your Utilities bill qube. If your electric company only accepts ACH transfers from a bank account, you'll enter your unique Utilities bill qube "account" number into your electric company's website. If your internet company only accepts card payments, you'll enter your unique Utilities bill qube virtual card number into your internet company's website. Then, any transactions coming through using those unique account or card numbers will always be approved and taken from that specific qube. Amazing!
